At least 17 dead and hundreds more injured after massive explosions in Equatorial Guinea

At least 17 people have been killed and hundreds injured in powerful explosions in the West African country of Equatorial Guinea.

A total of 420 injured people were being treated in three hospitals after the explosions on Sunday in a military complex in the city of Bata, the country’s health authority announced on Twitter.

More than a dozen people have been killed and hundreds wounded in a series of powerful explosions at a military base in Equatorial Guinea’s largest city of Bata, according to officials.

In a statement on national television, President Teodoro Obiang said the blasts on Sunday were caused by negligence related to the use of dynamite at the military base.
